MidSummer Macon Music and Arts Festival

Founded in 1987, the MidSummer Macon Music and Arts Festival is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing education and promoting participation in the arts. Located on the campus of historic Wesleyan College, one of the nation’s leading liberal arts college, MidSummer Macon gives children, teens, and adults the opportunity to explore their artistic talents in a variety of subjects such as theater, creative writing, music, visual arts, and dance. In addition to summer arts camps, MidSummer Macon presents community performances by a variety of artists in venues around the community. Arts Discovery & Junior Arts Discovery Camps
MidSummer Macon Arts Discovery Camps are for children six to nine years of age, while the Junior Arts Discovery Camps are for children aged ten to twelve. The summer time day camps will expose children to the five major art disciplines with age appropriate classes in music, dance, theater, creative writing and visual arts. Junior Dance Camp
MidSummer Macon Ballet Camp is a half-day program for serious beginner and intermediate ballet students. The class will focus on ballet technique and form with an additional class in jazz; no pointe work. The camp will be taught by Dawn Axam and Christine Fehr, who teach in Atlanta and previously were part of the New York City Ballet. For application information, please visit www.midsummermacon.org.


Junior Intensive Camps

MidSummer Macon Junior Camps will provide a summer day camp experience for students age ten to twelve who want to explore the arts in more detail. Students may choose from three models:  music, theater, or the art of creative expression (visual art).  Sponsored by GEICO.  Visit www.midsummermacon.org for dates and fees.


Senior Intensive Camps

MidSummer Macon Senior Camps are structured for students aged thirteen to eighteen who are serious in furthering their knowledge in selected arts disciplines. Senior Camps may be attended as commuter (day) or boarding (resident) camps. Students choose one of eight subject areas: music (voice/chorale, piano, strings, harp, or rock band), theater, creative writing, or visual arts. Auditions are required for placement; samples of work required for writing and visual arts students.  Please visit www.midsummermacon.org for details. Community Performances
In addition to the art camps, MidSummer Macon presents a variety of community performances during the summer. Concerts, lectures, and exhibits will be conducted by professional musicians, dancers, authors, poets, actors, and artists. The evening events are tailored to educate, inform and entertain all ages.
