Gifts in Support of the Munroe Science Center and its Programs
It is an exciting time to be in the sciences at Wesleyan. We are graduating record numbers of majors and are sending more and more of these graduates off to medical, dental, veterinary, and graduate programs at top universities. We have almost doubled the diversity of upper-level courses offered over the past ten years, and our graduates' ETS test scores now place us among the best programs in the country. We have added new interdisciplinary physics, neuroscience, and environmental science programs to expanded programs in biology, chemistry, and psychology. Students in all of these programs are engaging in student faculty research projects, culminating in honors theses, presentations at regional and national scientific meetings, and/or authorship on professional publications. Some students are also taking their enthusiasm for science into the local schools through the KISMET (Kids In Science, Math, Engineering, and Technology) program sponsored by the Center for Women in Science and Technology. Our faculty have brought in almost 2 million dollars in federal grants over the last ten years to support these activities.

Our move in fall 2007 from Taylor Hall to the new Munroe Science Center will allow another giant step in educational opportunities for our students and service to the community. Immediately upon the completion of the Munroe Science Center, we will follow with major renovation to Taylor Hall to house the Department of Education and the Center for Educational Renewal, slight renovation of the laboratories that will house the Physics Department, and refurbishment of classrooms for Mathematics and Psychology.

Naming Opportunities
In appreciation for support of Phase II of our Comprehensive Science Plan, Wesleyan College will recognize donors at certain giving levels by naming individual teaching laboratories, research laboratories, or other spaces within the new science facility or adjacent gardens in their honor. Many opportunities are available for a donor to name a specific space or fund for a family member, friend, professor, or business. If you are interested in nameing a room or space in the Munroe Science Center or Taylor Hall, please contact Debbie Smith, Vice President for Institutional Advancement, at (478) 757-5187.
