with Distinction Award, AGAIN!
Wesleyan College has been named to the 2009 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, the highest federal recognition a college or university can receive for its commitment to volunteering, service-learning, and civic engagement. 2009 marks Wesleyan’s second year on this prestigious Distinction Award list, an honor no other college or university in the state can claim.
Wesleyan College Ranks High with Princeton Review
Wesleyan College offers students an outstanding undergraduate education, according to The Princeton Review. The New York-based education services company features the college in the new 2010 edition of its annual book, The Best 371 Colleges, as a Best Southeastern College and gives high ratings for academics and classroom experience.
Forbes claims Wesleyan is America's 15th Best College Buy
Wesleyan College is among America’s Top 100 Best Colleges, according to new rankings from Forbes magazine. It is one of only two institutions from the state of Georgia to appear in the Top 100. This year marks the publication’s second annual listing; Wesleyan also appeared on the inaugural list in 2008.
Wesleyan announces new Master of Education program
Approved by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) this week, the Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Early Childhood education has been designed to meet the needs of teachers in the middle Georgia and surrounding area and will add a significant component to Wesleyan’s graduate programming. The College is already accepting applications and the first cohort class will begin June of 2010.

Wesleyan Announces Girl Scout Gold Award Scholarships
Effective Fall Semester 2010, Wesleyan College will award annual scholarships valued at $9,000 a year to Girl Scout Gold Award recipients. The new scholarship program was developed to honor the commitment to service and community leadership exemplified through the Girl Scout Gold Award program.
Wesleyan Dean receives prestigious Medallion Award
Wesleyan College Dean Dr. Vivia Lawton Fowler returned to her alma mater, Columbia College, in South Carolina to receive the prestigious Medallion Award at a dinner and awards ceremony held in November. Fowler was one of three honorees to receive the 2009 Medallion Award, along with Emory University Dean Dr. Jan Love and 2009 National Mother of the Year Betty Ulmer McGregor.
Wesleyan Professor receives prestigious Accounting Educator Award
Wesleyan College Associate Professor of Accounting Dr. Kel-Ann Eyler was awarded the Accounting Educator of the Year Award from the Georgia Society for CPAs (GSCPA). Each year, the prestigious award is presented by the GSCPA Educational Foundation to one educator who has demonstrated outstanding contributions to educating accountants.

Wesleyan's graduating seniors anxiously awaited the call to action and inspiration of commencement speaker and award-winning journalist MaryTherese Grabowski-Tebbe. Wesleyan graduated 105 candidates for undergraduate degrees and 11 for Master of Arts degrees on May 9, 2009.
Wesleyan Press Celebrates First National Book Launch
Wesleyan College proudly announces the flagship publication of its new press, a tribute to The Architectural Works of W. Elliott Dunwody, Jr., FAIA. Written by James E. Barfield and featuring the photography of Walter G. Elliott, this exquisite book of elegant architectural photography and insights celebrates many of the historic Macon homes treasured today.
Wesleyan completes renovation of its historic 1925 organ
Experience the majesty of Aeolian Opus 1542! Wesleyan’s historic Goodwyn-Candler-Panoz organ, the largest musical instrument in central Georgia, is the centerpiece of much celebration. Recently redesigned and expanded through a million dollar renovation project, the 1925 instrument (and its nearly 5,000 pipes) is vibrating the Wesleyan campus with new energy.
WOW! A day for Macon community-wide service event
Wesleyan College organized more than one hundred volunteers through its WOW! A Day for Macon community-wide service event and completed multiple projects simultaneously at a dozen separate work sites throughout the city of Macon. Students, faculty, staff, and community volunteers joined together for the mass effort coordinated through Wesleyan’s Lane Center for Community Engagement and Service.

Ruth Knox Joins Growing List of Higher Education Leaders to Fight Global Warming. Wesleyan committed to sharply reducing and eventually eliminating all of the College’s global warming emissions, and accelerating the research and educational efforts to equip society to re-stabilize the earth’s climate. The pledge came with Knox’s signing of the American College & University Presidents Climate Commitment, joining the leaders of 400 other institutions across the country.
Wesleyan joins national initiative to offer improved consumer resources
New U-CAN website offers prospective students an alternative to national US News college ranking information. Wesleyan College supports a national initiative to provide comprehensive public information to help prospective students judge the quality of higher education institutions. Currently, no single objective consumer resource exists to help prospective students choose a college or university that best fits their needs. Participation in a new web-based project called U-CAN is one step toward the commitment to offer consumers improved resources.
Wesleyan selected by Princeton Review as one of "America's Best Value Colleges" Wesleyan is one of the nation's best value undergraduate institutions according to The Princeton Review. The New York-based education services company features the school in the current edition of its book, America's Best Value Colleges, released April 24, 2007. The guide profiles select colleges chosen for their excellent academics, generous financial aid packages and/or relatively low costs of attendance. In its narrative profile on Wesleyan College in the book, The Princeton Review's editors commend our school for its "tight-knit community” and state, “it’s a serous place for women who are serious about broadening their horizons.”
New Study Finds Women's Colleges Better Equipped to Help Students
The Indiana University Center for Postsecondary Research suggests that students at women's colleges are better served in their educational pursuits than their peers at coeducational institutions. In addition, educational gains made by students at women's colleges counter claims that women lag behind their male counterparts in subjects like math, science, and engineering.

Wesleyan College is not surprised by recent information released from the Indiana University Center for Postsecondary Research (IUCPR). One student claims, “The fact that Wesleyan is a women's college kept me focused and motivated to achieve only the best.”
Wesleyan College outperforms Top 10% on national NSSE study
According to the seventh annual report of the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), Wesleyan College outperformed the Top 10% of colleges and universities nationally in all five categories studied: active and collaborative learning, enriching educational experiences, level of academic challenge, student-faculty interaction, and supportive campus environment.
Global Partnerships: Wesleyan officials expand a simple foreign exchange program When Wesleyan College and Ulyanovsk State University’s Student Exchange Program began in 1999, few realized the program had the potential to become a model of excellence for ambassadorship and global community leadership. But unexpectedly, the participants of the program became completely inspired by the cultural exchange of ideas. As a result, a simple foreign exchange program has grown into a network of international relationships. Those involved claim the momentum has only just begun.
