About the School:
Wesleyan College was founded in 1836 as the first college in the world chartered to grant degrees to women. Today it is regarded as one of the nation’s finest liberal arts colleges and is consistently recognized for academic excellence. According to the most recent annual report of the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), Wesleyan outperformed the Top 10% of colleges and universities nationally in all five categories studied.
Students from 21 U.S. states and 25 other countries value a rigorous academic program renowned for its quality. An exceptional faculty teaches classes in seminar style. A student-faculty ratio of 10:1 ensures that students are known by more than just a grade or a number. The acceptance rate of Wesleyan students into medical, law, business, and other graduate programs is exemplary.
The school offers undergraduate degrees in 32 majors and 29 minors (not including self-designed interdisciplinary majors), as well as eight pre-professional programs including seminary, engineering, medicine, pharmacy, veterinary medicine, allied health sciences, dental, and law. A new state-of-the-art science center added to the College’s offerings in 2007. Master of arts degrees in education and an accelerated Executive Master of Business Administration program enroll both men and women. Wesleyan also offers a dual-degree program in engineering with the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta; Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama; and Mercer University in Macon.
Beyond the academic, Wesleyan offers a thriving residence life program, NCAA Division III athletics, championship IHSA equestrian program, and meaningful opportunities for spiritual development and community leadership. |
