Welcome to Wesleyan!

New students at Wesleyan must plan to attend our orientation session for new students. Orientation is a VERY important part of your start at Wesleyan.

Summer Orientation for New Students Enrolling Fall 2010:

How to Register for Summer Orientation & What to Expect When You Arrive:
It's easy to register for Summer Orientation at Wesleyan. Simply mark your calendar (and your family’s calendar) for June 24-25, 2010, and go online to register using the online RSVP form to let us know to expect you.  (International Students please see below.)

Once you've done that, you'll probably be wondering: What happens at Summer Orientation anyway? You’ll meet your faculty advisor, register for your classes, get to know your way around campus, and start making friends with other new students as well as our enthusiastic, knowledgeable orientation staff. Classes for the Fall 2010 semester begin on August 25, 2010. Move In & Fall Orientation for those who attend Summer Orientation is August 21-24, 2010. (In certain circumstances, new students may not be able to attend Summer Orientation. If you have a conflict, then please call to discuss your situation. Move In & Fall Orientation for those who do not attend Summer Orientation is August 20-24, 2010.)


International Students, We’re at Your Service!

International and Exchange Students may move in to the residence halls on August 18, 2010 and attend Fall Orientation, August 20-24, 2010. When you arrive on campus a designated orientation leader will meet you and help you check in to your room. If you plan to arrive early it is imperative that you contact the Director of Student Activities, Laura Alford, lalford@wesleyancollege.edu and inform her of your intended arrival date. During Orientation you will attend all the same sessions as our domestic students and will also have a few special sessions specifically designed to help ease your transition into life at Wesleyan and Macon, Ga.

How will I get to Wesleyan?
Groom Transportation provides a shuttle service from the Atlanta airport directly to the college campus. The cost is $31. The number is (478) 471-1616 or you can look at the website www.groometransportation.com

What will I need at Wesleyan?

  • Bedding/Linens (twin size sheets, pillow, towels, blanket, etc.)
  • Toiletries (soap, shampoo, toothpaste, etc.)
  • Clothing
  • Shoes
  • Alarm clock
  • Health records and insurance information (if you have not already turned in)
  • Housing application (if you have not already turned in)
  • Camera (to capture memories of your new school and friends ☺)
  • A sharp mind
  • A great attitude and sense of adventure!!

Will I be able to go to the store (Wal-Mart, Kroger, Target)?
During Orientation there will be a shuttle trip provided to the local stores. In addition, the college provides a shuttle service on the weekends, for a small fee, to local stores and the mall.

Can my parents come? What will they do?
Parents are not required to attend; however, we certainly encourage them to join us and participate in the festivities!

Can my parents stay with me?
We do not provide on-campus accommodations for family members. However, parents can consult the list of nearby hotels (below) to schedule overnight arrangements. Please know that this list is not exhaustive and that many different options are located minutes from campus. *See below for a list of hotels.

What will I do during Spring Orientation & Registration?

SO MANY THINGS!! By attending Orientation and Registration, you are able to:
• Participate in placement exams that determine the appropriate classes for you in the fall
• Register for classes
• Choose your residence hall and roommate
• Discover academic and campus resources
• Interact with current Wesleyannes and future classmates
• Have fun!!

What is a placement/proficiency exam?
Placement/proficiency exams are required for all incoming Wesleyan students. They will assess your proficiency in that field and assist your advisor in determining the appropriate classes for you. FAQs about Foreign Language Placement Exams.
